Free Window Quote (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates this website as a free quote-matching service that connects UK homeowners with vetted local window and door installers. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. We are the data controller for the information you submit here.
What we collect
When you complete our quote form, we collect the details you enter:
- Your name — first and last name.
- Your email address.
- Your phone number.
- Your postcode.
- Whether you own your home — so an installer knows whether a homeowner’s go-ahead will be needed before any work.
We also automatically capture marketing attribution data so we understand which advert or link brought you here. This includes the campaign source, medium, term and content (UTM values), advertising click identifiers (such as Google and Meta click IDs), the page you first arrived on, your browser’s user-agent string, and your IP address. This information is stored in first-party cookies and your browser’s local storage as described in our cookie policy.
How we use your data, and our lawful basis
We use your details to process the quote request you have made and to arrange for a suitable installer to provide that quote. We (or the installer we match you with) will contact you by telephone, and that contact is directly related to the application you made through this website — namely your request for a window quote. We may also contact you by email or text about the same request. Our lawful basis for this contact is our legitimate interest (and the installer’s) in responding to an enquiry you actively submitted.
We use the marketing attribution data to measure and improve the performance of our advertising, again on the basis of our legitimate interests in running the service efficiently.
Sharing your data with a matched installer
We may pass qualified enquiries to a matched installer partner so they can prepare and provide your quote and, if you choose to proceed, carry out the work. We only share the details needed for that purpose, and only with an installer covering your area. That installer becomes responsible for the personal data it holds about you and will use it in line with its own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal data.
We may also use trusted service providers (for example, secure hosting and lead-processing providers) who act on our instructions to help us run the website and deliver the service.
How long we keep your data
We keep the details from your quote request for as long as needed to provide the service and then for up to 24 months, after which they are deleted or anonymised, unless we are required to keep them longer to meet a legal obligation or to handle a dispute. Marketing attribution cookies expire after 90 days (see the cookie policy).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. Where our basis is legitimate interests, you can object at any time. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
